Due to the current situation, the Faculty of Philology at the University of Leipzig has launched a program to support refugee researchers from Ukraine. According to this program, refugee scientists can arrange a paid, contractually agreed guest stay on site in Leipzig with their colleagues from the institutes of the Faculty of Philology. This enables a connection to the host institute, with which individual scientific projects are then determined. The guest agreement is initially to be concluded for two months, with an option to extend for a third month. Currently, the Faculty of Philology provides funding for this purpose to support up to ten Ukrainian researchers.
The initiative came about because several scientists from the institutes of the Faculty of Philology had received corresponding requests from refugee or endangered colleagues from Ukraine in recent weeks. In order to help those affected in an uncomplicated and short-term manner – for example, in obtaining other funds – this support program was set up at short notice. Interested parties are asked to contact their contacts at the institutes of the Faculty of Philology or directly to the Dean’s Office.
In Leipzig there are several colleges/universities where Ukrainian refugees can probably study. The information on the linked pages is constantly updated. Much is still in the planning stage.
