Would you like to help the refugees from Ukraine and volunteer in Leipzig? Any kind of support is possible remotely – that means you don’t have to live in Leipzig and you can organize your time freely. Most of us are active for about 5-10 hours, and some of us have other permanent (full-time) jobs.

We are looking for

22002_EN | Volunteers to support language offers for refugee children (m/f/d)

“Fit for school – language offers for refugee children Готовий до школи – мовні пропозиції для дітей біженців “.

Since the end of the Leipzig summer holidays, the project “Fit for school – language offers for refugee children” has offered preparation for attending a German school for refugee children. The offer has been widely accepted by parents as well as pupils. With the help of intensive language courses during the holidays as well as homework supervision and additional German lessons in the afternoon, the children are supported.
The project is now guaranteed to be extended until 30 November. A further extension is desired until the end of February, subject to project extension.
For the German classes, we are looking for Volunteers (m/f/d) to support a language class for a fixed group of refugee children of similar ages on one fixed day per week from now on until 30 November 2022 (possibly 28 February 2023).

Your duties

  • Support the course leader in running language courses for refugee children on at least one fixed day of the week from now until 30 november 2022.
  • Cooperation with language mediators for an optimal learning atmosphere

Your profile

  • You ideally have a pedagogical background and/or experience in working with children and young people.
  • Ideally, you already have experience in running language courses or educational projects.
  • You are committed and have a self-reliant and independent way of working.
  • You like to work in a team and enjoy working with children.
  • You are fluent in German and ideally have knowledge of Ukrainian or Russian.

We are Leipzig helps Ukraine – a network of volunteers – and support the refugees from Ukraine on their arrival in Leipzig.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Teamlead Legal (m/f/d) for about 5 – 10 hours/week on a voluntary basis with immediate effect.

Your tasks

  • You will lead a group of volunteers who research topics in the legal field and make them available to refugees.
  • You are responsible for structuring and communicating all tasks for the team.
  • You identify upcoming urgent issues and derive the tasks for your team.

Your profile

  • Ideally, you have your first leadership experience – this includes motivating other people.
  • You can independently identify problems and delegate them to suitable team members to solve them in a timely manner.
  • You are a team player and develop the best solutions together with your team.
  • Good comprehension is one of your strengths. You work fast and structured.
  • Ideally, you have legal knowledge.

Team Lead Antidiscrimination (m/f/d)

To support our team, we are looking for an individual to join us immediately as Team Lead Antidiscrimination (m/f/d).

Your tasks

  • Researching current regulations from the legal sector
  • Preparation of researched content for refugees
  • Supporting refugees in filing applications
  • Documentation of cases

Your profile

  • Ideally, you have already gained experience in the field of law.
  • You are willing to stand up for the discriminated.
  • You bring sensitivity, motivation and political sensitivity.

To build a new project team to assist with relocations and transports, we are looking for a Team Lead Relocation Assistant (m/f/d) for approx. 6 hours per week on a voluntary basis.

Your tasks

  • You build up your team independently and create the necessary job advertisements together with the HR team.
  • You support our moderators in finding needs within Telegram groups.
  • You actively network with companies, initiatives and individuals to prepare for future collaborations.

Your profile.

  • You are an organizational talent.
  • At best, you speak at least two of the following languages: German, Ukrainian, English, Russian.
  • You are a team player, empathic and have good communication skills.

Admin Legal (m/f/d)

To strengthen our team, we are looking for an Admin Legal (m/f/d) on a voluntary basis with immediate effect.

Your tasks

  • You will research reliable, up-to-date sources in German law, including migration and social law.
  • You prepare important legal information in a comprehensible and multilingual manner that is appropriate for the target group.
  • You moderate our Telegram group Legal – sharing the workload with other team members – and answer questions from people seeking help, among other things.

Your profile

  • You ideally have a legal background or are studying law. (Alternatively, you have experience in counseling in migration or social law).
  • You are a team player and have very good communication skills.
  • You quickly get to grips with new issues and independently find suitable solutions.
  • In addition to German, you speak at least one of the following languages: Ukrainian, English or Russian.

To strengthen our team of LHU groups we are looking for a Team Member Antispam / classic moderation (m/f/d) on a voluntary basis with immediate effect.

Your tasks

  • You participate in our Telegram groups
  • You moderate chats and identify spam or rule violations
  • You delete inappropriate messages and users
  • Depending on your capacity, you will provide support with personal messages or pass on information and needs

Your profile

  • You are a strong communicator and want to help people from Ukraine to arrive in Leipzig
  • You want to help us enforce the group rules and avoid spam
  • You speak besides German other languages like Ukrainian, English or Russian

Content Manager Website & Social Media (m/f/d)

To strengthen our team we are looking for a Content Manager (m/f/d) Website & Social Media (m/f/d) on a voluntary basis.

Your tasks

  • You develop high-reach content for the presentation and perception of Leipzig helps Ukraine – across all target groups and in all relevant communication channels (landing pages, social media, print media)
  • You are responsible for planning and coordinating the content on our website and support the continuous optimization of our web presence with your own ideas
  • You work interdisciplinary with our IT and marketing team and are responsible for the conception and preparation of relevant content
  • You formulate texts in English and German and support the creation of press releases

Your profile

  • You have first experiences in the fields of journalism/PR/marketing/social media or in the communication department of companies or NGOs
  • You live online and know all common social media channels and formats, especially Telegram and Instagram. Experience with LinkedIn is an advantage, but not a necessity
  • You are confident in writing and building posts quickly for social media and our website
  • You ideally have experience with simple graphic work (inserting photos and text into templates in Canva, Photoshop or similar programs)
  • You are flexible, a team player and enjoy communicating and helping out
